Sebasticook Valley Health (SVH) is a progressive 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in Pittsfield, Maine. The hospital is an integral member of the communities it serves. SVH takes a proactive approach in helping people in the Sebasticook Valley improve the quality of their lives. The hospital works with local businesses, schools, the religious community, other healthcare providers, area organizations, and private individuals to make the Valley a healthy place to live. Waldo County General Hospital is a 140-year old, 25-bed critical access community hospital (CAH) located in the city of Belfast, Maine. This hospital is the sole-community provider of health care for Waldo County. It serves Belfast, with a population of 7,000, and numerous rural communities within a 20-mile or so radius, bringing the hospital’s total service population to about 37,000 Mainers. Many surgical and other sub specialists have joined the medical staff in recent years, and the hospital recently completed a substantial expansion project.

This hospital has a full service, 24-hour Emergency Room; a Pulmonary and Sleep Lab; Cardiac Rehabilitation facilities; a Renal Dialysis unit; Maine’s foremost Voice and Swallowing Center for diagnostic testing and speech therapy; and a full array of surgical and specialty services. In the summer of 2005, a new capital campaign was launched to fund the replacement of three OR suites and two procedure rooms.

Community

Mid Coast Hospital built in 2001 is the newest full-service, stand-alone community hospital in New England! Located on 150 acres of beautifully wooded land in Brunswick, Maine, Mid Coast Hospital integrates remarkable twenty-first century medical technology and skilled medical professionals with Maine’s natural beauty to meet both the psychological and physiological healing needs of their patients.

This 92-bed, non-profit hospital has an active medical staff of 146 physicians serving a population of 90,000 area residents. Mid Coast Hospital offers inpatient services such as a 24-hour Emergency Department, ICU, Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics, Behavioral Health unit, and a separate Woman’s Health unit concentrating on childbirth at its Baby Place and Gynecological Services center. Stephens Memorial Hospital(SMH) is a 50-bed hospital located in the beautiful community of Norway, Maine, in the foothills of Maine’s western mountains. Although considered rural, this hospital is under 60 minutes from Portland, and just 2-½ hours from Boston. SMH serves 21,000 Maine citizens, providing a wide range of medical services for outpatients as well as in-hospital care. Ambulance, home health, school-based health clinics, cancer treatment, long-term care, and a seasonal clinic located at the Sunday River Ski Resort are all managed by Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Recently, a major expansion was completed that increased the Surgical Services and Emergency Services departments, and added a new Women’s Imaging Center.

You’ll know you’ve hit Main Street, Norway, when you sense that you have entered a Norman Rockwell painting. Inland Hospital is a 48-bed community hospital and part of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systemswith an active medical staff of 59 physicians, and an additional staff of 125+ courtesy/consulting doctors. Because of its affiliation with Eastern Maine, Inland is able to provide access to higher levels of care through Eastern Maine Medical Center, located in Bangor, Maine. Inland is connected to EMMC via telemedicine technology and recently built a heliport adjacent to its Emergency Department so that it can easily transport patients to a tertiary care center.
