<p><strong>Hospital </strong></p>
<p><em>The Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC)</em> is a sophisticated 89-bed community hospital, with a 24-hour physician staffed emergency room, 72-bed continuing care unit and ten health centers located across the central and northern sections of Aroostook County in northern Maine. The region is home to over 65 physicians serving an area population of nearly 75,000 people. TAMC is the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">largest hospital north of Bangor</span>and offers the only Sleep Lab, Cardiovascular Lab, Radiation Oncology, and Dialysis Center. <p><strong>Waldo County General Hospital</strong> is a 140-year old, 25-bed critical access community hospital (CAH) located in the city of <strong>Belfast, Maine</strong>. This hospital is the sole-community provider of health care for Waldo County. It serves Belfast, with a population of 7,000, and numerous rural communities within a 20-mile or so radius, bringing the hospital’s total service population to about 37,000 Mainers. Many surgical and other sub specialists have joined the medical staff in recent years, and the hospital recently completed a substantial expansion project.</p>

The 15-bed Emergency Department, handles 23,000 visits per year. Physicians work 12 hour shifts with double coverage provided by Physician Assistants from 9:00 a.m. to midnight.
