The Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC) is a sophisticated 89-bed community hospital with 24/7 physician staffed ED, ten health centers located across the central and northern sections of Aroostook County in northern Maine. The region is home to over 65 physicians serving an area population of nearly 75,000 people. TAMC is the largest hospital north of Bangor and offers the only Sleep Lab, Cardiovascular Lab, Radiation Oncology, and Dialysis Center. Additionally, the Medical Staff includes the only full time Pulmonologist, Endocrinologist, Cardiologist,Hematology/Oncologist, and 24/7 Hospitalist Service.

TAMC offers the most comprehensive range of cardiac services in Northern Maine. As a member of Eastern Maine Healthcare, they work closely with the Eastern Maine Medical Center, and can connect patients to additional resources if needed. The pediatric team here is also outstanding, providing acute and preventative care to children and adolescents from birth to age 18. Their range of services includes routine well-child visits, immunizations, behavioral problems, school physicals, and sick visits.

Hospital

Mercy Hospital is a 170-bed progressive community hospital hospital serving the greater Portland area. Mercy provides topnotch specialty care and its’ affiliated primary care centers offer a comprehensive range of outpatient and home-based healthcare services. Having outgrown their current facilities, and with no room to expand at the current location, Mercy recently finished construction on a state if the art facility on the Fore River in Portland, pictured below. This is an exciting time to join the hospital staff.

Community

With a metro population of 230,000, the Greater Portland area (Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Cape Elizabeth, Gorham, Falmouth, and Cumberland) is home to almost one quarter of Maine’s total population. Millinocket Regional Hospital is a licensed 25-bed critical access hospital with a service area exceeding 12,500. Millinocket Regional Hospital features a strong, cohesive medical staff of Family Practice, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Nurse Practitioners, Orthopedics, Pediatrics and Physician Assistants in full-time practices. Visiting consultants include Cardiology, E.N.T., OB/GYN, Oncology, Podiatry, Pulmonology, Radiology, and Urology. Ophthalmology Optometry are offered in the community

Millinocket Regional Hospital operates modern diagnostic imaging and laboratory services. These are comprehensive services that feature highly skilled staff. Imaging options include: Spiral CT, MRI, full range Ultrasound, Mammography, and General Radiology. There is a modern 24-hour emergency department with trauma cases transported to Bangor, 70 miles away, by ambulance or Life Flight air transport to Eastern Maine Medical Center or St. Joseph Hospital.

Eastern Maine Medical Center, located right in the city of Bangor, is Maine’s second largest hospital (a 400-bed facility). This organization has an active medical staff of over 300 serving a greater community of some 120,000 area residents. EMMC provides specialty and intensive service to the northern two-thirds of the state. In 1998, EMMC became one of three designated trauma centers in the Maine Trauma System, a voluntary trauma response network involving all Maine hospitals and the state’s Emergency Medical Service.

The hiring practice offers general urology services to patients of all ages. The new physician will be the fourth in the group, and the call is shared with another practitioner, so for the incoming doctor call will be just 1:5. If you are selected, you will receive a very competitive starting salary on a two year guarantee basis, along with comprehensive benefits including generous time off, paid relocation, and maybe even medical debt assistance. The MaineGeneral Medical Center is a hospital with two campuses, one in Augusta and one in Waterville, about twenty minutes apart when using I-95, Maine’s major freeway. Mid Coast Hospital built in 2001 is the newest full-service, stand-alone community hospital in New England! Located on 150 acres of beautifully wooded land in Brunswick, Maine, Mid Coast Hospital matches the newest medical technology and skilled medical professionals with Maine’s natural beauty  to meet the psychological as well as physiological healing needs of their patients.

This 92-bed hospital has an active medical staff of 131 physicians serving a population of 90,000 area residents. Mid Coast Hospital offers inpatient services such as a 24-hour Emergency Department, ICU, Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics, Behavioral Health unit, and a separate Woman’s Health unit concentrating on childbirth at its Baby Place and Gynecological Services center. Outpatient services include Day Surgery, Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging (including the most advanced CT, PET scans and MRI), Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, and a Hearing Center. This rapidly expanding community hospital recently added another 18 med/surg beds and two more operating rooms.
