Bangor is situated on the shore of the Penobscot River just a half hour from the Atlantic coastline. Dover-Foxcroft:

Dover-Foxcroft, the county seat of Piscataquis County, is a picturesque location near Maine’s famed Moosehead Lake Region just 45 minutes north west of Bangor. This charming region is famous for its historic covered bridge, scenic beauty and recreational distractions. Along with all the fascinating natural aspects, this community has terrific schools and magnificent residential options.

 The pristine waters draw those wishing to explore nature by kayak or canoe, fly fish, relax on a scenic cruise on the historic steamship Katahdin, or feel the adrenaline rush of shooting the rapids on the world class white water rafting rivers. Nearby Sebec Lake offers wonderful fishing and boating. Or you can enjoy taking a swim at the natural beach at Peaks Kenny State Park. Beautiful mountains offer hiking experiences for all abilities (including a stretch of the Appalachian Trail), as well as bird watching, scenic vistas, mountain biking, skiing, snow boarding and ice climbing. And of course, some of the finest Moose watching in the country is right outside your door!

 You’ll want to make sure and visit The Moosehead Marine Museum where you can learn about the history of Mooshead. Step aboard The Katahdin for a leisurely cruise to enjoy the natural beauty and history of Moosehead Lake. The cruise will explain different points of interest along the way as well as provide you with snacks from the ships working galley.

 Since you’re just 90 minutes south of Baxter State Park, you’ll have to make a trip to the majestic Mt. Katahdin, Maine’s highest mountain, rising nearly a full mile into the sky. Baxter State Park is a 200,000 acre paradise for anyone who loves nature.

 Located just 10 minutes west of Dover-Foxcroft is Guilford where you can find Lowes Bridge. Built in 1857, it was washed away by the horrendous flood of 1987. A modern covered bridge, patterned after the original, was built in 1990 in its place.  The bridge crosses the mighty Piscataquis River. This is a site to see!

 Each spring the Moosehead Lake Region hosts a month long celebration honoring the regions favorite resident – “the Moose”. Some of the activities include: a Canoe Race, Tour De Moose mountain bike race and tour, Rowing Regatta, Craft Fair, Kids Fun Day and the famous Moose Tales. You won’t want to miss out on this Moose Mania!

 The school system in Dover-Foxcroft is excellent. Parents can choose from 3 elementary schools. All students attend the same middle school, Se Do Mo Cha Middle School, and one high school, Foxcroft Academy. Foxcroft Academy is a private school offering students music, sports, dance, clubs, or theater. They also offer practical applications for every subject, providing meaningful work and career opportunities.

 This region presents outstanding real estate options. Lincoln:

With nearly 70 miles of shore frontage, 19 miles of river frontage, over 4,300 acres of water and some 22,000 acres of woodland, is it any wonder why Lincoln is the undiscovered Maine? Located less than an hour north of Bangor, and just 90 minutes west of New Brunswick, Canada, this part of Maine is a wonderful, friendly place to live and work. The school system in Lincoln is great. All the children in the area take classes together until they reach high school age. Then, students can decide if they want to attend the regional technical center in addition to the public high school, Mattanawcook Academy. This high school offers a number of after-school activities while also preparing young people to continue their education on a college level. Some parents may elect to send their children to one of the two parochial schools in the area: Greater Lincoln Christian Academy, or Lincoln Montessori.
