Biddeford: OB/GYN sought for busy coastal practice in desirable southern Maine!
Requirements:

The only OB/GYN group in Biddeford, Maine, seeks another physician to join their team.

This is a great opportunity for established docs or graduating residents! The selected candidate will practice with 5 other doctors, and will share the call on a 1:5 basis. This newly created position will replace a departing midlevel provider. Ideally, the new physician will have a full time practice, but someone seeking part time work may also be considered.

The selected candidate will be offered a very competitive salary, plus a full benefits package, and an incentive/bonus plan. You will start out on an employed basis with a very competitive salary and benefits package that includes an incentive / bonus plan based on individual physician productivity. The employer is a private, multi-specialty group that will extend a partnership invitation within two years, maybe sooner, if all goes well. Established doctors working on the personal productivity compensation plan as partners are doing VERY well financially, and still enjoying a convenient schedule and a wonderful, southern Maine lifestyle!

Your admitting hospital is the Southern Maine Medical Center, a 150-bed, not-for-profit, full-service medical center with diagnostic & therapy centers in Saco and Kennebunk serving over 65,000 residents of southern Maine. SMMC is JCAHCO accredited, and is affiliated with the Maine Medical Center through the MaineHealth network. SMMC has nearly 200 active physicians on its medical staff.

The twin communities of Biddeford and Saco are among the most scenic in New England. It is an area twice blessed by ten miles of riverfront and another ten miles of shoreline. The gentle, rolling terrain of Biddeford-Saco meets the Atlantic Ocean at the Biddeford side; Camp Ellis, Ferry Beach, Bay View and Kinney Shores on the Saco side. The cities share a historical heritage, too. At one time, the entire area was known as Saco Falls, then West and East Biddeford before the latter adopted the name of Saco in 1805.

Biddeford is conveniently located just 30 minutes south of Portland. With 30 square miles of land area, the Biddeford area is as beautiful as it is richly diverse. The downtown area is typically urban in its density and has numerous historic commercial buildings and churches. Just a few miles to the east of the City Center lays a magnificent coastline including vast stretches of sandy beaches framed by rocky promontories. To the west are rolling hills, pastures, and several horse farms.

Saco is a charming area with a beautiful, historic downtown, ten miles each of riverfront and ocean shoreline. Rich in history and recreation, the region delights visitors with golf courses, amusement parks, lighthouses, hiking trails, fishing, and ready access to beautiful beaches.

The Biddeford-Saco area offers an assortment of elementary schools, middle schools Biddeford High School and in Saco, Thornton Academy a private high school. The school system addresses the needs of all students from Gifted-Talented to those with handicapping problems. The Saco and Biddeford two area Catholic schools import a high quality education within the context of Catholic values to students in grades K-8.

The highly acclaimed Biddeford Regional Center of Technology also offers a broad range of educational programs which provide occupational training at the secondary school level. Examples of programs offered include: drafting, machine trades, computer training, secretarial skills, and health services.

Not only can you find excellent school systems in this area, you will find three very fine colleges close by. Biddeford is home to the University of New England, a 2,500 student coeducational institution with both undergraduate and graduate programs, including the state’s only medical school, the University Of New England College Of Osteopathic Medicine. The Saco-Biddeford Center of the University of Maine is located in Saco, offering nearly 100 courses each semester for both degree candidates or for personal interest. Course work and schedules are oriented toward servicing non-traditional students who are pursuing higher education on a part-time basis.
