Board Certified or Eligible in General Surgery

Rumford Hospital is seeking a General Surgeon. You will have a busy well rounded general practice. This is an employed position with generous salary and fringe benefit package which includes assistance with medical education debt. Call is shared with another surgeon, is easily managed. You will practice in a recently renovated office. Procedures average 40 per month, 17-22 patients seen daily in the office. You will be doing scope work and advanced laparoscopic skills a plus.

Rumford Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving a population of 20,000. The hospital has a 97-bed long term care facility and a multi-site primary care group. The cohesive primary care medical community provides a steady referral base. The Hospital is part of Central Maine Health Care a three hospital system anchored by Central Maine Medical Center the 250-bed regional referral center with trauma services, heart center, and wide array of specialty services.

The west central Maine town of Rumford is located on the banks of the Androscoggin River, a manufacturing community. The town is 25 minutes from Sunday River Ski Resort, in Bethel and the White Mountain National Forest in neighboring New Hampshire. The extensive outlet shopping of North Conway, NH is within easy access.

Several wonderful little villages surround the town, so you will have an option between town or country living. An entire range of recreational activities is offered throughout this area. The region is renowned for having some of the best skiing in all of New England. In addition, you can enjoy such things as canoeing and kayaking, hiking and camping, fishing and hunting, snow shoeing and snowmobiling, and a host of other activities for every season.

Rumford is 50 minutes from Lewiston-Auburn. The twin cities has the second largest population in the state an offers shopping, dining, theater and many educational and cultural offerings at Bates College.
