An exciting opportunity has become available with Lakes Region Primary Care, a multi-specialty primary care practice located in Windham, Maine. The position is a full time, 4 days per week, in an office practice setting. This practice works closely with the hospitalist services at Mercy Hospital and the Maine Medical Center in Portland. You will join five board certified physicians: a Family Practitioner, Internist, Med/Peds and Pediatrician, plus a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, delivering care to residents of this suburban community. Just minutes in one direction you will be in greater Portland, and in the other you will find beautiful lakes and ponds, and true country living. The practice is located in an attractive new building. This is a fast-growing practice with average patient panels of between 1800 and 2000 per physician. The practice will be moving to the EPIC Electronic Medical Records system this summer. A competitive compensation package is offered and will include an excellent assortment of benefits.

Maine Medical Center (MMC) is a 606-bed tertiary care and teaching institution with a multi-state referral base, located in Portland, Maine. The First Parish Church has an original cannon ball from the revolutionary war as a chandelier. Portland’s City Hall was built by Carrere and Hastings, best known for their design of the New York Public Library. And, Portland High School is the oldest standing high school in the country.

Portland was originally called Machigonne (Great Neck) by the Native Americans who first lived there.
Portland was the first capital of the state. (In 1832 the capital was moved to Augusta.)
Portland's Deering Ice Cream Company had been in business for 121 years.
The record snowfall for Portland in one winter was 141.5 inches, in 1970-71.
The first McDonald's to open in Maine was on Saint John Street in Portland, in May of 1963.
John Ford, of Portland, won an Academy Award in 1940 for directing The Grapes of Wrath.
The Great Portland Fire was on July 4, 1866. The fire ignited during the 4th of July celebration, destroyed most of the commercial buildings in the city, half the churches and hundreds of homes. More than 10,000 people were left homeless. After this fire, Portland was rebuilt with brick and took on a Victorian appearance. Citizens began building huge Victorian mansions along Portland's (now famous) western promenade.
Neal Dow was the mayor of Portland who ran for U.S. president on the Prohibition Party ticket in 1880.
The Falmouth Gazette, printed in Portland on January 1, 1785, was the first newspaper published in Maine.
