York: Neurologist sought for hospital employed practice in southern Maine coastal location!
Requirements:

Join two fellow neurologists working on an employed basis with a wonderful southern Maine hospital. If desired, you may develop a subspecialty practice in movement disorders, sleep, stroke, or possibly another area, in conjunction with a general neurological practice. Fellowship experience is desired but not required. You’ll enjoy a convenient 4 day/week schedule and a shared call of 1:3.

The selected candidate will receive a very competitive salary and full hospital benefits package that includes such components as an employer funded pension plan, fully paid health and dental and life and professional disability insurance, paid vacation time plus additional paid leave for CME (along with a fund to cover expenses), relocation assistance, and more!

York Hospital is a not-for-profit 79-bed hospital located on the southern coast of Maine with a service area of over 33,000 people. A modern facility with excellent medical/surgical units, an outstanding emergent care center, extensive inpatient and outpatient services and many year-round community programs, York Hospital is known for its passion for detail and desire to make every patient's visit an unusually pleasing one where staff members are dedicated to creating nurturing, caring and positive relationships with patients and families.

York is one of Maine's southernmost coastal towns, located about 30 minutes south of Portland, just a few minutes from the New Hampshire border, and about 90 minutes from Boston. Best known for its beaches, there is much more to this charming town than sand and surf! With its rocky shoreline and sandy beaches, lobster dinners and handmade ice cream, beach-side arcades and carousels, York offers something for everyone.

York Village (also known as Old York) is a quaint Maine town with steepled churches, a village green, and several historic Revolutionary-era buildings that are part of the Old York Museum. In York Harbor and York Village, both quieter than York Beach, you'll find shops and art galleries, tree-lined streets, and stately homes with eye-popping views. York Harbor is full of working lobster boats and grand yachts. At the end of Harbor Beach is the famed Cliff Walk, a path winding between the sea and beautiful old summer cottages and ocean-side estates.

York hosts Harvestfest every October, featuring food and sidewalk sales, plus live entertainment and a craft fair. York Days is a week-long celebration of summer at York Beach. The Old York Historical Society operates a community museum that includes the oldest jail in America. Kids and families love York's Wild Kingdom, Maine's largest zoo and an amusement park with family rides, paddle boats, an 18-hole miniature golf course, a petting zoo, arcade games, scenic picnic grounds and a Haunted House.

People moving into the York area have an exciting range of residential lifestyle choices. You may want to live in a historic Victorian home in town or in a modern colonial or a coastal cape in one of many suburban-type subdivisions, or a few minutes inland, where you might find a country farmhouse or a place to build a new log home. Although southern Maine is a highly desirable place to live, many fine homes are still priced reasonably. Children get an excellent education in Maine, where the primary education system was ranked #1 in the U.S. by the National Education Goals Panel.

From the carousel and arcades at York Beach to the peace and quiet of the wilderness areas, York truly is an idyllic spot to live -- for all reasons and in all seasons!
