Waterville: Rheumatologist sought by major medical center in south-central Maine!
Requirements:

A privately practicing rheumatologist has retired after more than a dozen years in the desirable community of Waterville, Maine. The closing of her busy practice has left a big hole in services that the affiliated medical center would like to plug! So, we're seeking a talented rheumatologist to practice in this area.

The selected candidate can be employed by the hospital, or sponsored in establishing a new private practice, where an income guarantee AND a practice budget will be negotiated. If you wish, you can practice rheumatology exclusively, or you can have a mixed practice with some general internal medicine, at your choice. A competitive compensation package will be provided in either case that includes a base salary or guarantee, along with comprehensive benefits.

This opportunity is centrally located in Waterville, Maine - a culturally rich mid-sized town with a medical service area exceeding 60,000. Waterville is home to Colby College, one of the nation's oldest and best independent colleges of liberal arts, offering 54 different majors. In this family-friendly community, you will enjoy a host of services, eateries, shops and theatres, plus superior public schools. You'll be 90 or so minutes from Portland, and less than an hour from either the ocean, or the mountains!

One of the best benefits of joining this practice will be your affiliation with the MaineGeneral Medical Center, which operates major hospitals in Waterville, plus Maine's capital city of Augusta (with a service area of an additional 70,000 or so people) just half an hour from Waterville. Combined, the Center has a capacity of over 300 acute care beds managed by a medical staff of over 200.

In Maine, you will find many fun-filled ways to spend your leisure time. Our downhill skiing is spectacular, or you might enjoy such winter activities as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing. Pristine lakes and streams abound in this region. During the warm seasons, you can go hiking or biking or backpacking on many nearby trails, or perhaps camping, fishing or hunting. Maine also offers all types of boating, from canoeing and kayaking to sailing and whitewater rafting, plus golfing, rock climbing, and much, much more. If you prefer something a little more tame, try antiquing, bird watching, or nature photography! There is truly something for everyone, in every season.

Maine is recognized as one of the best and safest places in the US to raise a family. In the Waterville area, you will enjoy a range of residential choices. You can live right in the city, in one of several very nice suburban areas, or you can enjoy Maine's openness by acquiring some acreage in any of the quiet communities surrounding the city, where affordable real estate is plentiful, and waterfront living is an option on one of Maine's many lakes, rivers and streams.
