Cardiology opening details

A BC/BE Cardiologist is invited to join a prestigious 20+ physician private cardiology group practice based near Portland, Maine. The selected doctor will work in a community setting with time divided between Waterville and Augusta, Maine - two small cities situated just twenty miles apart, about an hour northeast of Portland. These cities are centrally located, and are also about an hour each from the Atlantic coast, and from Maine's picturesque mountain and ski region!

A qualified candidate will be capable of, and interest in handling invasive and noninvasive procedures and testing. Echo and catherization skills are a must, while pacemaker and nuclear reading skills are also highly desirable. Practicing physicians and graduating residents/fellows are all invited to apply for this wonderful opportunity.

Your practice will be based in an existing office in the great college town of Waterville. You will manage cathing and other procedures in a new, state-of-the-art cath lab in a major medical center in Maine's capital city of Augusta, just twenty minutes from your home office. The hiring practice is also preparing to open an exciting new facility, completely outfitted with the latest echo equipment, in north Augusta (between the two existing offices).

This is a full time position, which consists of 4½ days per week. The call for this position is a very comfortable 1:4. The selected candidate will receive a very competitive offer commensurate with your experience and training. This will include a substantial base salary, plus a productivity incentive formula and various fringe benefits. You will find a number of very strong public and private schools offering superb primary, secondary and higher educational opportunities. It is an area of modern schools, libraries, museums, social, fraternal and cultural organizations. There are three colleges in the area - Colby College and Thomas College in Waterville, and the University of Maine/Augusta.

Drive one hour to the east, and walk on the beaches along Maine's rugged coast. Head west to find fantastic hiking, mountain biking and skiing in our magnificent mountains. While Portland is an hour to the south, you could continue driving for three hours total, and reach the city of Boston!

This part of lower-central Maine is very desirable, dotted with family-oriented communities offering you choices of city, suburb or rural/country living. The numerous lakes, rivers and streams between the two cities break up a mixture of rolling farmland and wooded recreational areas. Real estate in this region is very affordable. You might enjoy living in a classic Victorian home in town. Perhaps you'd like to relax on an old farm, or buy some wooded acreage and build yourself a log retreat!
