Bangor: OB/GYN invited to join thriving private practice!
Requirements:

A busy private OB/GYN practice located in Bangor, Maine, is seeking an additional physician to help them manage the growth of their operation. They are performing a large number of deliveries, and other procedures as well. Join four other physicians and enjoy the convenience of call that will be one day per week, and 1:6 weekends.

This practice prides itself on the flexibility it offers its physicians. You can decide if you’d like to work 4, 4-½ or 5 days per week. Although base expectations are set with your office schedule, you will find that you will be free to spend more time with your patients in this practice! The volume of deliveries is typically about 12/month per doctor, but it could be as high as 20 in this community.

Located right in the city of Bangor, you will operate in Maine's second largest hospital (a 400-bed facility) and the only medical center in the state to win the "100 Top Hospitals" award (in 1999). This organization has an active medical staff of over 300 serving a greater community of some 120,000 area residents.

The selected physician will offer a full range of OB and GYN services, including managing high risk deliveries, c-sections, and GYN surgery. You will be offered a terrific compensation and benefits package, and may have a future partnership opportunity if all goes well. A competitive base salary will be provided, along with an incentive component that is based on your personal production. Enjoy four weeks vacation per year, plus an additional two weeks for CME, plus many other benefits.

Bangor is Maine's second largest city, situated on the shore of the Penobscot River just a half hour from the Atlantic coastline. This is an award winning community, rated as one of America’s best small metro areas in MacMillan’s Places Rated Almanac, and among the top 20 best places to raise a family in a Reader’s Digest poll scoring communities on schools, absence of crime, healthcare, and the environment. You'll find a variety of affordable real estate in this area as well, with options ranging from city to suburban to village or country living.

Bangor and its surrounding towns offer excellent educational options, with first rate primary and secondary schools, both public and private. These schools rank among the best in New England, earning distinction for standardized test scores, advanced placement programs, math competitions, music, art, and sports. Your preschool choices include traditional nursery schools, all-day programs, and several Montessori schools. The recently opened Maine Discovery Museum downtown draws children and families from all around the state.

Bangor is centrally located, providing its residents with easy access to the coast, Maine’s mountains and many area lakes. Bangor International Airport has direct flights to many destinations and connections daily. By car, Boston is just four hours away, or you could be in Portland in two hours. Minutes north of Bangor is the town of Orono, home of the flagship campus of the University of Maine, with over 10,000 full time students in baccalaureate and graduate programs and all of the recreational facilities and cultural amenities you’d expect on the campus of a major university.

The National Council for the Arts selected Bangor as the host city for the National Folk Festival, America’s premier showcase for an international program of music and dance, art, crafts, and cuisine. The Bangor Symphony, America’s oldest community orchestra, offers a full performance season and sponsors a youth symphony. The Penobscot Theatre Company produces a number of plays each year and the Maine Center for the Arts hosts entertainers from around the world. Long a haven for artists and writers (Bangor is the home of Stephen King), Maine has a wealth of museums and galleries, and a diverse literary community. The internationally known WoodenBoat School and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts are each just an hour away.

Enjoy four seasons of outdoor activities in Maine! This area offers opportunities for sailing and kayaking, hiking, cycling, and skiing. Maine’s rockbound coast, Acadia National Park, and inland woods and mountains, lakes and streams offer spectacular beauty and unsurpassed recreation within easy reach. Organized sports and adventure programs, and a variety of indoor athletic facilities, are available for all ages. Try a new sport, or hone an outdoor skill at the University’s Maine Bound program, offering instruction, guided trips and rental equipment. Or, check out a course at the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, less than two hours away in Rockland. Hunting and fishing, rock climbing and golf, bird watching and antiquing are all popular activities in Maine, known by millions as “Vacationland!”
