Orthopedic Surgeon wanted for Lincoln
Requirements:

Board Certified or Eligible General Orthopedic Surgeon interested in solo practice

An employed practice opportunity awaits a General Orthopedic Surgeon with a desire to be in a solo practice. Penobscot Valley Hospital is searching for a surgeon to fulfill a growing need in the community. Recognizing there are in a solo practice, you will have flexibility in your scheduling and in the call; it’s only 7 days per month! Trauma cases are currently transferred to Bangor, less than an hour away. It’s a great opportunity for a physician of some experience who likes a well rounded practice. The hospital will provide a very generous salary and fringe benefits package.

Penobscot Valley Hospital (PVH) is the center for primary, emergency, and acute care in Northern Penobscot County, Maine. A Critical Access Hospital located in Lincoln, Maine, PVH has a large geographic service area that consists of 14 rural communities that are home to more than 13,000 people.

The stated mission of PVH is to “exist to provide quality health care and to serve as an education and referral resource that meets customer needs by: providing appropriate services, providing health-related information, [and] making arrangements for additional health services.”

With nearly 70 miles of shore frontage, 19 miles of river frontage, over 4,300 acres of water and some 22,000 acres of woodland, is it any wonder why Lincoln is the undiscovered Maine? Located less than an hour north of Bangor, and just 90 minutes west of New Brunswick, Canada, this part of Maine is a wonderful, friendly place to live and work. North-central Maine offers a peaceful lifestyle in an assortment of safe, family-oriented villages, towns, and small cities. The Lincoln area has a strong forestry, manufacturing, retailing, and health service economy.

This region offers a variety of natural resources to enjoy. The range of water sports alone is amazing! From quiet fishing and canoeing, to exciting kayaking, to thrilling whitewater rafting nearby, there is something for everyone. Even jet skiing and water skiing are enjoyed on the lakes around Lincoln. If you are a hunter, this area is an outdoor enthusiast’s delight. You’ll also enjoy being near majestic Mt. Katahdin, Maine's highest mountain, rising nearly a full mile into the sky. Mt. Katahdin is the centerpiece of gorgeous and rustic Baxter State Park, a 200,000 acre outdoor activity paradise.

If winter sports intrigue you, you’ll be pleased to know that the nation’s best snowmobile trail system connects Lincoln with the rest of Maine, and with neighboring Canadian provinces! There is also a nearby downhill snow skiing area to help distract you during the snowy months in Maine.

Nearby Bangor offers plenty of shopping and dining, a major airport, and numerous cultural opportunities (such as the acclaimed children’s museum, and the oldest community symphony in New England.) Between Lincoln and Bangor is the town of Orono, home of the flagship campus of the University of Maine, with over 10,000 full time students in baccalaureate and graduate programs and all of the recreational facilities and cultural amenities you’d expect on the campus of a major university.

The school system in Lincoln is great. All the children in the area take classes together until they reach high school age. Then, students can decide if they want to attend the regional technical center in addition to the public high school, Mattanawcook Academy. This high school offers a number of after-school activities while also preparing young people to continue their education on a college level. Some parents may elect to send their children to one of the two parochial schools in the area: Greater Lincoln Christian Academy, or Lincoln Montessori.

When it comes to your home, you can choose from a range of personal lifestyle and residential options. You might enjoy living in a historic 19th century home in town, or possibly purchasing some acreage, and designing the custom log home of your dreams! Real estate prices in Maine are very affordable, and land is readily available in volumes in most directions. Have you ever dreamed of owning 100 or even 200 acres of land? Your dreams can come true in central Maine! It is not unusual to find a home with that amount of land on the market at a surprisingly reasonable price!

Peaceful, friendly and safe, with a true sense of community, Maine is a terrific place to raise a family. This nature lover’s paradise offers recreational distractions to satisfy people of any age and interest.
