Lisbon Falls: FP invited to join new practice between Lewiston and Brunswick!
Requirements:

An opportunity has just been announced for an FP to join an experienced physician at a new practice located in Lisbon Falls, Maine. This is a wonderful rural community in a highly desirable location halfway between Lewiston and Brunswick. These two larger cities / college towns offering innumerable shopping, dinning, and entertainment opportunities!

This new position involves inpatient and outpatient care, but no OB. Candidates with an interested in women’s health will receive priority attention. The call here is an outstanding 1:14 weeks, and during your call week you perform as a hospitalist within the St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

St. Mary's is a 233-bed acute care facility serving a large territory with over 112,000 residents. St. Mary’s is a Catholic owned and managed operation that combines the best of medical technology with human compassion to meet the needs of those in Androscoggin County, and beyond. Their excellent psychiatry unit consists of 51 inpatient beds caring for patients of all ages. St. Mary’s provides a full range of mental health programs, including adolescent chemical dependency, eating disorders, inpatient and outpatient counseling, and even safe housing for young people and families in crisis.

Recently, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center received three national awards for healthcare service quality from Avatar International Inc., a leader in healthcare research and consulting. The hospital was nationally recognized for Best Performance in Emergency Care, Best Performance in Inpatient Care, and Meeting and Exceeding Patient Expectations, all based on the results of patient surveys.

The Lewiston-Auburn area, known locally as “LA,†represents two cities which are side by side on opposite banks of the Androscoggin River in west-central Maine. These communities are about half an hour north of Portland. Here, you will find safe, family-friendly communities and excellent private and public schools. You will have the pleasure of living near Bates College, ranked by The Princeton Review in 2005 as the nation’s “Best Value†college. Being so near to Portland, and under three hours from Boston, LA residents have easy access to all the amenities offered by large cities. A 45 minute drive could have you enjoying Maine’s spectacular coast, delighting in the fragrant ocean breeze… or you could be high in the mountains, surveying a panoramic view that extends for dozens of miles in every direction. This central location gives you limitless options!

People moving into the LA area enjoy a full range of residential lifestyle choices: You may elect to live in a suburban setting, or right in the city, or perhaps in one of many quiet rural areas nearby. You could reside in a country or farm style home, or maybe buy some acreage and build a custom log home near the woods if you wish! Stunning lakes and winding streams abound in this area of mostly low, rolling hills – so waterfront living is one of your many options. Affordable real estate is available to satisfy your preference, whatever it might be. Whether you choose to live right in LA, or one of the surrounding towns (such as Mechanic Falls, Greene, Lisbon, New Gloucester, Litchfield, or Poland), you will find excellent residential options and an easy commute to work!

Nearby Brunswick is a fantastic coastal community that is best known for the strategic naval air base, and Bowdoin College, one of the premier liberal arts schools in the country, with a beautiful sprawling campus. Brunswick is just minutes down the coast from the city of Bath, home of the world famous Bath Iron Works, the respected shipbuilding enterprise that is one of the largest employers in Maine. Brunswick offers a full range of shopping and dining, a major cinema complex and more, while Bath is somewhat quieter historic town, awash with genuine New England charm. Nearby Freeport is a destination city for shoppers, with the flagship L.L. Bean Store that never closes, plus over a hundred name-brand outlet stores.

Brunswick is in Maine’s famed Midcoast region, which boasts some of the state’s most beautiful coastline, offering gorgeous beaches and parks, phenomenal seafood, intriguing antiquing, plus much more. Although you could live beside the sea, Maine’s mountains are also within easy reach for area residents! Less than two hours by car gets you to some of New England’s most exciting downhill ski resorts. Portland is just 30 minutes from Brunswick, or, in two and a half hours, you can get to Boston by car, or via the “Down Easter†commuter train.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you’ll love life in Maine! You will find a wealth of fun-filled ways to spend your leisure time. Maine’s nickname is the Pine Tree State, appropriate because a full 89% of Maine’s land is still covered by forests! Maine’s downhill skiing is phenomenal (some of the best in New England). Other winter activities include snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing. During the summer season, when temperatures are frequently in the 80s and 90s, Maine offers fantastic hiking, biking and backpacking on trails all over the state. Perhaps you would prefer to go camping, try rock climbing, or go fishing or hunting? You can do all of those things and more in Maine. Boating in Maine covers the entire spectrum, from canoeing and kayaking to sailing, motor boating and water skiing and even whitewater rafting! Many newcomers to Maine are content to work on perfecting their lobster cooking technique. Whether you like an adventure, or a quiet game of golf, you will find something to enjoy in Maine, in every season.
